[ gobblynne ] stay in my memory by bim

the crisp fall (winter?) air was sucha relief today after the rainy&humid 60-something weather we had yesterday. i drove with my window down and the heater on. on my way somewhere, i stopped at a red light next to someone smoking a cigarette. and the smell of that + the fall air + tablo's new album = nostalgia. college... freshman...sophomore year. bam.

happened upon this designer/animator today. intrigued by her illustration style from the start. but this MV for bim's "stay in my memory" is so...great!!!! and i love the song now so gg!

[ alexei alexeev ] log jam

as you know, i've ALREADY shared some of the episodes of alexei alexeev's short animations. formerly titled "kjfg," the mini-sodes are now known as "log jam." i stumbled upon a new episode and then realized there were a few new ones! my favourite is probably the duck one out of these. can we get this on a DVD box set (not kidding) so i can watch them all the time?!

wondering about the name change? in an interview, alexeev stated that he came up with the title "kjfg" out of thin air so as to avoid any preconceived notions about the animated shorts. but after a couple companies with the same name contacted him, he decided on "log jam" with help from nickelodeon UK producer peter drake. either way, the mystery of kjfg was fun and log jam is fitting!

log jam - the duck

log jam - snow

log jam - the beaver

[ hyein lee ] twinkling stars above

the weather has been getting chilly lately, which i absolutely love. fall and winter are my favourite seasons! (why do i always wanna say "favourite holidays" when thats not what they are?) i was in ny this past weekend and the weather was absolutely perfect. sunny. barely 60 degrees. 45 at night. brrr. i got to wear my tall leather and suede boots. and various other fall fashions that i love. oh, autumn, how i love thee. (this goes for this autumn too.)

i can feel the winter when i watch this opening sequence to a video game prototype that hyein lee is working on. I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME. like... REALLY WANT TO PLAY IT. in any case, gotta love her style - its very.... cute, but w/ this edginess to it. the video above, and even some of her sketches, are kind of like reality slapping you in the face. juxtaposition between the cute illustration style vs. the subject matter. i like!

[ reed + radar ] the green box project

i've been neglecting my video gaming the past couple weeks because i've started watching mad men and i cant stop. so the wii has been primarily all about the netflix. but i really need to beat this one level on donkey kong country returns because im SO over the cave world and i wanna move on to the next world. hate those stupid moles.

i've shared reed+radar's work before but i am loving this new video project they've done. they usually do photo manipulation in the form of gif's but this is an actual video. check it out and ALSO check out their interview video below. i love when they talk about their inspiration (the internet + fashion) and their genre (fashion + art). very cool to hear where they're coming from!

[ reed + rader ] untitled

surgery went well! feeling stiff and (ew) itchy at the incision sites. some pain when i try to sleep but i've been avoiding pain meds - except this morning when i absolutely hadn't slept all night and needed it. in any case, whilst laying about bored out of my mind, i decided to go on a what-to-blog-quest. it's my very fluid way of finding awesome stuff to share with you guys!

which is when i happened upon reed + rader (pamela reed and matthew rader) -- a dynamic duo with dynamic work. i LOVE their style. its like.... video photography. it makes me think of haunted houses and mad circuses and all things creepy. something to cheer me up while i'm stuck at home post-surgery. cus we all know how much i love the offbeat and odd.

random but this style would make for such FUN wedding "photos" dont you think?? (and notice me and wifey choi in the first picture below performing our newest DDA dance.)

[ vera brosgol & jenn kluska ] snow-bo

it's starting to get suuuuper cold out. in fact, it was 30 degrees last night or something! if the weather had been a bit different, we could've had a flurry or two. apparently, however, it's already snowed in seoul!!! can't believe i still haven't had a proper seoul winter. sigh, i want to go experience all the cutesy-ness! ice sculptures and christmas decorations and coupley things that i wouldn't be able to enjoy since i'm not in a couple but i'd make jen unnz go with me so it'd be fun anyway. then again, from what i remember in feb 2008, the days it snowed meant days you were likely to fall on your bum --- they don't ice down sidewalks in seoul. argh.

this is a video i tweeted about awhile back but wanted to wait to share until the weather got a bit colder. and today's the day! it's so.... delightfully shocking. and the music is so happy-go-lucky... making the ending that much more effective.

[ 6 picks ] what's yo name, delicate?

anyone remember the "can i have your number?" mad tv sketch?? darrell asks for this girl yvonne's phone number at a movie theater. and he calls her "delicate" - among other nicknames such as grace kelly, gene shalit, "my lil cwoissant," and "my lil brie." hahaha. unnz showed me and sharonian this when we got to korea in 2008 and it still makes it's way into random convos. too funny~

so today's 6 picks is featuring things of a delicate nature ~ whether it be because of color or construction or form or 느낌/neu-kkim (aka the feeling you get from something).
