as some of you know (and some of you don't) it was my bday this past weekend. andddd twas a crazy-fun time. i'm glad i got to celebrate with everyone who came to dinner and/or 2020. andddd i'm glad taynifer oppz isn't mad we kidnapped him and that he had to spend the entire day sunday at my house hahaha.

again, it's been awhile since i've blogged. my birthday festivities ran all weekend and i was too tired even yesterday to do anything but lay around watching how i met your mother. which, btw, is one of my fave shows of all time but i digress.

monday night, when me and richie rich were driving down to annandale for bonchon, we saw something SUPER weird. on 95S, right at the 175 exit, we saw..... a UFO. im not kidding! it was this aircraft that was as close as an airplane would be (since we're near BWI, we get a lotta those). but there was a ring of orangey, fireball light around it that kept spinning. and after it stopped spinning, it looked like letters, except they were upside-down and backwards.... soooooo strange.

i was getting together a 6picks and happened upon these awesome collages by kris tate. love love love the black&white vs. hyper-color used in the pieces. my fave is ▲ntoniette▲ because it looks supernova galactic, which is such a fun juxtaposition with her 18th century french aristocrat hair.

tomorrow's woofie's last day at work. so of course, this week we had to order an obscene amount of chinese food one last time from gourmet garden. and we were trying to think of other food-ordery situations that we needed to recreate but we couldn't. but i just remembered! sharing 8 rolls of sushi and finishing it ALL. bon fresco. oh, bon fresco. and - once in awhile - gyros and/or pf changs lunch. its true.

love these super simple depictions of food. would be even cooler without the text - relying on the fact that the designs are clear enough that you don't need to point out what they're supposed to be. but either way - awesome!

[ 6 picks ] wintry beach

woke up to sunshine and brisk-cold air on dec 1st. it was feeling wintry, with temperatures barely climbing to 50. and thats the way i like it. i opened my window a bit even though it was so cold. i tend to do that - especially in the car. i'll be bundled up in scarves and gloves and a winter coat with the heat on and the window cracked open. i don't know why that is, though.

days like that make me want to take a trip to the beach. which is also weird, i know. but i LOVE the beach at winter-time. it's cold. the ocean's not actually freezing because it's still warm from summer. salty wind. sweaters and snow and sand. it's been years since i've gone to the beach in cold weather and i miss it.

since i'm feeling beachy keen (harharhar) i figured i'd do a 6picks on the beach and ocean that feel sorta cold and icy. even if it is a randomly warm december night tonight.

it's been cold. of course now its 63 degrees outside randomly. what. but two nights ago i literally slept in sweats, a long sleeved shirt, a hoodie, and socks PLUS four blankets. im not kidding. twas FREEZING. and thats saying a lot cus i like being cold.

gotta love the simplicity of this "freeze" series by evah fan. she has such a wonderfully simplified style.

ITS HALLOWEEN. one of my favourite days of the entire year. unfortunately, didn't really.... DO as much as i would've liked this year. didn't go clubbing (snowed saturday) or really dress up (only looked like a creepy doll at work). and i'm not sure we'll be going to georgetown tonight after all :( but if NOT then i DO want to have a movie marathon tonight: hocus pocus, little monsters, nightmare before christmas (usually a xmas movie for me but still), etc.etc. me and richie rich already watched the first resident evil at ANdy's on friday night. aka one of my favourite zombie movies - OF ALL TIME. ahem.

zombie seems to be the 'costume' of choice this year. everyone and their mom be splashing some fake blood on before heading out to the bar/club! there wasnt even a good zombie movie OUT this year (as far as i know) which makes this trend even more interesting. this zombie portraits series by andre de freitas lets us imagine even our favourite iconic and/or heroic characters as zombies this year.
