had to share some work from another artist i studied in my korean aesthetics class. gwon osang does photography sculptures. and he's crazy good at it. basically, he has his subject pose and then he does a rough sketch of the basic shape. he then creates this shape, to size, in styrofoam. but before that, while the subject is still posing, he takes a BUNCH of pictures of every part of the showing surface area of the subject... every single detail. and then he develops the pictures and layers them on top of the styrofoam figure. PAINSTAKING work here, people!!!! very interesting process. and it makes for very interesting results.
